Mexican commercial radio is dominated by major groups including Radiópolis, Grupo ACIR, and MVS Radio, which operate hundreds of stations nationwide. Regional Mexican music — including banda, norteño, ranchera, and corridos — commands massive audiences. Public radio is led by Radio Educación, IMER, and university stations. Indigenous community radio has gained legal recognition, with stations broadcasting in Nahuatl, Maya, Zapotec, and other native languages. The border region features unique bilingual programming, and XEW, founded in 1930, remains one of the most storied stations in the Spanish-speaking world.
